Special Events

March Break Camp

Monday, March 15 to Friday, March 19

Come out for a great day packed with fun games, activities, crafts and friends while taking the week off school. The Day Camp runs 9 am to 4 pm each day for children 5 to 12 for just $5 for the entire week. Breakfast and lunch are provided with a special trip planned for Thursday to the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto! Sign up today at the Centre.

Night of Celebration

Thursday, March 18th - By invite only.

Join us for a night of celebration as we highlight the past year and give thanks to all of those who make the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre possible. We appreciate all those who help in their particular way, and we look to recognize those who go above and beyond to support their community Centre. 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Monday, April 5 - 1 to 3 pm.

Once again we expect that special bunny to make an appearance here at the Centre with lots of treats for everyone. Come out to enjoy a day with face painting, crafts and even have your photo taken with a big fuzzy and lovable bunny. Call to register at 905-526-1558.

Clothing Bank
In need of clothing, furniture or household goods? Want to read a good book? All is offered to you for free, however we ask you take only what you need. We accept donations of gently used clothing or household items that are in good shape. Please drop off during hours of operation to be put directly into the appropriate areas.

  • 9 am to 12 noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • 6 pm to 9 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Job Resource Centre
Come check out our Job Resource Centre! Get critique on your resume, improve your computer skills, and get yourself a better career. We have anumber of computers where you can search for jobs, type your resume, and contact potential employers.

After School Drop In
This after school program lets you have a safe place to go to play games or get active in the gym or just hang out somewhere safe. School ages only.

Latchkey Kids
This two day course will help to inform your child some of the safety issues faced when staying home alone. Topics examined may include answering the telephone and door, food preparation, having a telephone list handy and more. This is essentially a babysitting course designed for those watching themselves. This program does not promote or encourage children to be home alone at any time, however is here to help in situations where other alternatives may not be available

Adult Volleyball
This pick-up volleyball game is for adults to get out for a social night of playing a simple and non-competitive sport. Just enough to get some exercise without breaking a sweat. Come out to meet new people, play a new sport or just for the exercise.

Seniors Social
All seniors are welcome to the Eva Rothwell Centre to meet with friends both young and old. Talk over coffee and tea and play a few games.

Canadiana Games
Come out to play all those sports that are truly Canadian, and have some fun doing it. Hockey and Lacrosse are our national sports, and this program alternates between them to give the kids a chance to learn the sports and develop some true Canadian pride. Drop-in—not registered

Euchre
Come out for a social night of cards with other adults form the neighbourhood. $2 per night.

Floor Hockey
Learn basic skills of hockey and play some non-competitive atmosphere. This is to teach the skills as a practice, with scrimmage games to get your kids to love the game.

Youth Cooking Services
A cooking class for teens 13 and older. This class teaches teens how to be able to cook a balanced meal with a focus on the importance of nutrition.

Homework Club
Afterschool homework tutoring for all school aged kids. A drop-in program, although kids must be doing homework or getting tutoring assistance to attend.

LeaderCorp
Designed especially for youth between 11 and 24 years old, the Corps takes the best of today’s youth and helps them become the leaders of tomorrow. The YMCA Youth Leader Corps combines leadership training, teamwork, self-government, and volunteer placement to help build confidence – and connections.

Mom's Support
This group consists of moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers in our community. We get together for coffee and a chat on Wednesday mornings. Everyone is welcome to attend. Periodically guest speakers are invited to speak to the group.

Teen Zone
Teen Zone is a place where teens can hang out with friends or make new ones!  Enjoy an hour of cool activities in the games room, listening to music, munching on great snacks. Don't miss out, tell your friends

Youth Basketball

Cheerleading Dance

Tap/ Jazz Dance
Everyone loves to hear the click-clack of the tap dancer in perfect rhythm, and kids love to make noise. This class will develop the skills of tap dancers and build from simple steps to performing an entire routine. Best of all, the class is fun and the kids can learn new talents.

Karate
Karate is offered at the centre by certified instructors for kids ages 6 – 12. Through the teaching of this ancient martial art children are able to build confidence and self esteem in an enjoyable and safe environment.
