Between the Tracks Road Hockey Tournament

Saturday, August 21

A Great Canadian passtime turned to support the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre. This tournament will be hosted by the RLCA at the Centre on Barton (Fomer Centre Mall) and will let you compete for best supporters of the Centre and win $500. With an entry fee of only $225 per team, this 4 on 4 tournament looks to be a great day with lots of fun and prizes. Call for more information. 905-526-1558

Clothing Bank
In need of clothing, furniture or household goods? Want to read a good book? All is offered to you for free, however we ask you take only what you need. We accept donations of gently used clothing or household items that are in good shape. Please drop off during hours of operation to be put directly into the appropriate areas.

We appreciate your support and are happy to pass along your gently used clothing and household essentials to those in need. Due to space restrictions, we really must be strict in keeping to only essential needs and a high standard of quality. Please appreciate our situation in not being able to accept anything and everything, and keep your donations to the following list of essential needs only;

· clothing

· beds

· couches/ futons/ chairs

· cribs/ toddler beds

· dining room tables/ chairs

· coffee tables/ end tables/ bedside tables

· dressers/ hutches/ wardrobes

· Kitchenware – cutlery, utensils, pots & pans, dinner plates, bowls

· Lamps

· Radios, televisions, alarm clocks

· Appliances – toaster ovens, stoves, fridges, washers, dryers

· Tools

In addition, we do accept items for infants such as strollers, play pens, play mats, highchairs, and baby needs in excellent condition only.

We CANNOT accept children’s car seats.

We ask you respect our limited capacity to accept and distribute essential items only, and to please dispose of other items elsewhere.

Summer Hours:

  • 9 am to 11 noon on Monday
  • 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Please note we do not have access to a vehicle to pick up or deliver furniture and donations. Please make every attempt to bring your items to the Centre during office hours to be sure we can get them brought indoors and put away.

Job Resource Centre
Come check out our Job Resource Centre! Get critique on your resume, improve your computer skills, and get yourself a better career. We have anumber of computers where you can search for jobs, type your resume, and contact potential employers.

Summer Programs

ROTHWELL DAY CAMP

The Eva Rothwell Resource Centre will be running a day camp this summer for the full 9 Weeks of Summer! The day camp will be for children 5-12 years of age. There will be sports, crafts, swimming, outdoor activities and a variety of day trips. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided for the campers. It is suggested that parents pack snacks and extra drinks with the children, along with swimsuit and sunscreen each day.

Camp will operate from the Centre daily from 9am-4pm Monday to Friday. The cost for the camp is $1 dollar per day per child. Camp will start the week of July 5th and end the week of August 30th. Register in advance as spaces are limited due to the popularity of this camp!

 

Camp is sponsored by the Hamilton Spectator Fund and staffed through

support by the YMCA and

HWDSB.

FUTURE LEADERS

Are you between the ages of 13-17 and would like to gain leadership experience? Join our leadership training course this summer to develop various leadership skills and allow them to develop their potential. Youth will acquire hands-on experience by being involved in the Camp program which will give them the opportunity to act as mentors to younger children, facilitate activities and plan programs. To acquire a leadership certificate the youth must complete the entire session. The sessions will be running throughout the full nine weeks of summer at different times.

Monday to Wednesday, 9 to 12 am starting July 5.

FLAG FOOTBALL

The 5 on 5 Flag Football is back and growing. We are doing a one week camp folllowed by 4 weeks of games to introduce and bring football back to the North End.

Starts Saturday Aug 7 at Eastwood Park.

Runs 9 to 4 - bring your own lunch and lots of drinks!!

Activities/ Workshops

Youth Empower - Summer hours are 4 to 8 each weekday, with altered hours for special events. Ages 13 to 19.

 

Sign Language

Ever want to learn a new language - try this valuable means of communication through simple signs and gestures.

Starts July 6 from 1 to 2 every Tuesday.

Adults Out and About

Activities to get you out and about the town to meet others, learn something new and enjoy a new experience. Check out the great trips and guest speakers planned including a visit to the Shaw Festival, Flatrock Cellars and the Ontario Science Centre. Speaker presentations touch on topics from cooking to pottery, endangered species and environment to theatre and dance, the history of Hamilton to your own family tree. Call for more information and dates on these exciting workshops.
